Mantra
मन्त्र
Mantra is the Sanskrit word that describes the phenomenon of intelligence and intention as vibrational form and the inherent meaning in patterns or vibrations. Chanting, or the repetition of intended sounds, especially those with positive or spiritual contemplation, is a powerful and ancient practice used by various cultures the world over. Mantra is used to remember important life values, to impress them into our psyche, and to balance our energies while calming or quieting the mind. Mantra, and indeed all behavior, can be seen as a form of self programming, conscious or unconscious. Yoga is for moving us towards consciousness.
Mantra which are classically chanted from Indian origin based Yoga practices are usually in Sanskrit language. These mantra describe perennial truths, set the sentiment for a mature relationship with the cosmos, remind us of the blessings of life and existence, and teach us of unconditional love, gratitude, and surrender to teacher, divine beings, and God.
Mantra may also be created in any language and suiting ones own cultural background. The important key factor of mantra chanting is the focusing of the mind on a simple and positive concept in repetition, that reduces the outwards reach of the ego towards the gross objects and allows the possibility for deeper awareness of the subtle and the source of experience.
