Barefoot & Grounding
There is of course a connection between the living things on the Earth with the Earth itself. Our bodies are made of the Earth and by atoms. And all matter is held together partly by electrical and magnetic forces and the strong and weak nuclear force. Which means all matter is energy. And energy is dynamic and thus flow defines energy. This flow comes about through connecting various faculties creating the experience of harmony. Do you see how perfectly you are the Earth created into a refined complexity reflecting this harmony.
Today modern humans live in isolation from their Earth connection. This is a literal statement. One of the first main culprits was the invention of the rubber souled shoe. Rubber is an insolator to the flow of electrons, which is something that happens with everything in nature. Wearing rubber on your feet is basically saying to Earth's energy "I don't want you to go through right here". This is blocking the flow of natural energy through you!
The practice of grounding is to be in natural bare skin contact to the Earth or it's waters. This effect is enhanced in certain locations due to various factors and also influenced or improved by regular practice and conscious awareness combined with breathing and movement exercises as well as the engagement of all the five senses with the environment.
Many people should be familiar with the idea of grounding when it applies to electrical work, installing wires and systems. There is a "ground", a wire that runs out of the system and into the Earth to act as a sink for excessive electrical charge in the system. When connected to the Earth any system with a higher charge density will begin to balance to the charge of the Earth. Many modern ailments are said to be caused by a retention of positively charged electrons which mainly create resistance in the nervous system and inflammation in the body. This happens because often times the modern human is not grounded, and goes for long periods of not being in contact with the Earth. When you take this to the next level of understanding you also need to imagine the scale of which we can block or enhance Earth's energy flow by our construction. A typical modern city is a storm of signal frequency, wires, electrical currents, pollutants, rubber, plastics, rebar, glass, and steel. The natural flow of Earth energy might be all but gone in a place like that and there's still only rare places to actually ground in a city park or outskirts.
I've also recently realized a physics based theory of wellness that explains how humans have used a lot of the rituals throughout the ages that they do to engage with higher powers, receive blessings, and pray or meditate. These acts typically happen in places made of natural rock like temples, or by engaging with a sacred object, bowing the head and touching with the hand the base. These technologies of construction and ritual, also often with living plants or herbs, and liquids perhaps become the fabled "energy vortex" that people talk about. Really though it's just an amazing grounding device that enhances the Earth's rhythms and energy movements in that location while balancing the energy of the smaller forms within it, ie., us.
